Answers for your guests, at 11 pm and in German too.
Hellu answers the phone, email and chat about rooms, prices, dogs, check-in and allergens from your own website, and passes bookings and special requests to reception with everything filled in.
Customer: Hi, can we bring the dog if we come this weekend?
Hellu: Yes, dogs are welcome in our dog-friendly rooms for DKK 150 a night. They can't come into the restaurant, though.
Customer: Great. Do you have a room from Friday to Sunday for two adults and a dog?
Hellu: I can't see which rooms are free, so I've passed your request to reception: Friday to Sunday, two adults and a dog. Reception will get back to you by email.

What your guests ask
- “Can we bring the dog?” Answers from your rules.
- “When is check-in, and can we come earlier?” Answers, and passes on the early check-in request.
- “Is there parking and EV charging?” Answers from what your website says.
- “Sprechen Sie Deutsch?” Answers in German, and carries on in German.
- “Can you cater for a nut allergy?” Answers only from what you've written about allergens, and passes the rest to the kitchen.
- “Any rooms free the first weekend of July?” Describes the rooms and prices and passes the request on with dates and number of guests.
- “Can we get a table for four tonight?” Sends the guest to your table booking, or passes it to you.
- “I'd like to complain about our stay.” Passes it to a manager with the whole conversation.

What you stop doing
Guests in the lobby waiting while you're on the phone
The phone and the inbox get answered while you check guests in, so you can look after the people in front of you.
Struggling with languages you don't speak
By email and in the chat, Hellu answers in the guest's own language. On the phone it switches when the guest speaks German or English, for example, but not between Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.
Chasing dates and guest numbers
Dates, number of guests, wishes and contact details are written down before the request reaches you, so you can say yes straight away.
Systems it works with today
Hellu reads your website and your documents: rooms, prices, menus and allergens. It isn't connected to your booking or table system yet, so rooms and tables are passed to you with everything filled in.
What it doesn't do
- Doesn't promise special requests reception hasn't agreed to
- Doesn't promise rooms it can't see
- Doesn't guess about allergens
You pay when it solves something.
A hotel where Hellu resolves 400 enquiries a month on its own pays DKK 2,500 a month on Scale. If it answers your phone, the number and minutes are extra.
Questions
Can it book rooms directly?
Not yet. It describes the rooms and prices and passes the request to reception with dates, number of guests and contact details, so you can confirm it straight away.
Will it sound like our reception?
It reads your website and the emails reception has sent, and answers in the same tone. You can adjust the tone whenever you like.
What about guests who want to talk to a person?
They're put through to reception with a short summary of the conversation. If reception is closed, the conversation is waiting in Hellu when you start your shift.
Which languages does it speak?
Danish, English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese. It answers in the language the guest writes or speaks, though on the phone it doesn't switch between Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.
What if a guest asks something it doesn't know?
It says so and doesn't guess. It saves the question and passes it on to reception, and once you've answered it, it knows the next time.
